I started listening to podcasts a little over a year ago. I was on Joe Rogan's website www.blog.joerogan.net looking for his standup comedy tour dates, when I noticed the link to his podcasts. I had never listened to a podcast before and I wasn't sure what to expect, but I do find Rogan a fairly intelligent dude, with perspectives that I can relate to. Since I would be actually listening on my computer I clicked the link to watch the www.Ustream.tv/joerogan video, of the podcast, versus just listening to the MP3 audio.

Rogan’s podcasts’ typically lasts about two hours, and are co-hosted by (tech and sidekick) Brian "Redban". The “Joe Rogan Experience” podcasts’ often give the feel that you're listening to a conversation with friends, which they have mentioned similar feedback from others, on the podcast. Being users of medical marijuana, they will often smoke a joint, or pass around the vaporizer bag, at the beginning of the show. The first several times I watched, Rogan and Redban simply sat on the couch, side by side, and bullsh*tted. In later episodes they added a table and chairs, better equipment, and started having guests such as Bryan Callen, Bert Kreischer, Dane Cook, Eddie Ifft, and Sam Tripoli, as well as regularly returning comic friends like Joey Diaz, Ari Shaffir, and Duncan Trussell.
Rogan tries to have his podcast a couple times a week, and they go out unedited. Someone might get up take a piss break in the middle, but for the most part they just run straight through, and you get what you get. There is no agenda, unless a guest happens to be an expert on a given topic, then it's likely that they will discuss that topic, but won’t typically labor over it for the whole show. They might also discuss butt f*cking or black cocks (seriously, I’ve heard these two topics specifically), or the merit of hallucinogenics and how they helped sculpt modern-day religion, the Annunaki and ancient Sumerians text, or maybe lucid dreaming. The range of possible topics is virtually unrestricted.

When comedian Eddie Ifft was on the Joe Rogan’s podcast he talked about his own new podcast "Talking shit with Jim and Eddie", which also features Australian comedian Jim Jefferies. I gave them a listen and those bastards are hilarious! The evil voice in my head almost immediately took on an Australian accent, in the voice of Jim Jefferies, and says "c*nt" 5 times as often.
The talking sh*t podcast is pretty much what it says. Hosted by the two comedians, who verbally (and sometimes physically) molest each other, any staff, and sometimes the guest of the episode. Their former couch-inhabitant Jason is often the subject of their abuse (and if you listen enough times you will want to abuse him too)! The two “puss hounds” got their nickname from guest April Macie, who also dubbed their place in Venice Beach “the rape cottage”. This podcast comes out on Monday and Thursday and they give you lots of straight talk about sex, midgets (they mean little people), sex with midgets, f*ggots (the new “f” word), and rape. With episode names like “Puss hounds make talky talky” and “I’m gonna eat this dude’s c*nt” how could you go wrong? SkankTees is considering sponsoring them! You can get to all of their podcasts, youtube, etc. via their website www.jimandeddietalkshit.com

Redban eventually set up another studio,in his home, and now produces several other podcasts, as well as Rogan’s. He is the “Podfather”. Under the moniker Deathsquad he produces: Ari Shaffir's Skeptic Tank, Sam Tripoli's Naughty Show, The Teeb and The Heeb with Jason Thibault and Daniel Stewart, What's Good with Freddy Lockhart and a few others. Most of the video content from those shows is available at www.vimeo.com/redban www.deatsquad.tv or in MP3 audio from the teat of iTunes.

I’ve heard Rogan say that his show, The Joe Rogan Experience, is going to be (or maybe it already is) rebroadcast on Sirius satellite radio.
I know Adam Carola, Kevin Smith, Marc Maron, and Ricky Gervais all have podcast’s too, but I’ve only got so much listening-time in a day! Haha! Personally, I like to download episodes to my smart phone to listen to while on a flight, drive to work, or when I don’t feel like listening to music.

Do you listen to a podcast? Tell me why…
